ELDOA
ELDOA is a French acronym when translated to English is (LOADS) Longitudinal Stretching with Osteoarticular Decoaptation. This is a complex way of saying decompression or opening of joints. This is by far the most powerful technique I have ever come across in my 20 plus years of practice as a physical therapist and a leader in the fitness industry. There is an ELDOA for every joint in the body including the TMJ which give space to joints, thus counteracting gravity, shear, compression and torque — a secret recipe to longevity.
The ELDOA not only has a positive impact on the joints of the body, it also helps improve posture, proprioception and awareness and strength. It even has a positive impact on the neurohormonal system and the viscera of the body. The ELDOA can be used as a means to prevent orthopedic issues, correct present orthopedic dysfunction or as an evaluation tool.
The ELDOA exercises are specific postures that are held for 1 minute and can be performed anywhere, including the comfort of your own home.
Myofascial Stretching
Fascia has become a huge buzzword in the health and fitness industry. Americans have a great term for fascia and that term is connective tissue. Fascia connects the entire body and covers absolutely everything— all muscles, organs and glands. The pericardial sack of the heart, the periosteum of the bones, the sclera of the eyes are all a form of fascia. How do you presently work with the fascia? If a foam roller or fascial tool is your method for working with fascia, then these two classes are imperative. The body contains organized fascia and non organized fascia. Foam rolling non-organized fascia is fine, but is actually detrimental to organized fascia.
During the myofascial stretching course, Doctor Voyer, the world’s most knowledgeable individual on the fascia, will take you through a guided tour of what fascia is and how to stretch the different fascial structures of the body. After all “muscle is a stupid piece of meat.”
